Wow.
Sounds like an interesting process. But 8 days to get a single print??? Just seems like a long time to get a print of an image that is already made. I could see if I were painting an image. I used to paint crude illustrations in Macpaint, then better ones years later in Photoshop so I'm not saying I need instant gratification. My work generally takes 4-6 days, but that's having to create and/or recreate certain things in it that I can't just take a photo of. If I could just take a photo, it would cut the process down to a day or 2. |

For me, personaly, it is about the process: Researching the history, learning the chemical reactions that makes it happen, finding the chemistry from out there in the world and then practicing the process until I can make a decent print.
It took me about 6 months (working full time, going to school and raising kids while living in the fog belt with little sun) to get my first decent print. I think its the challenge of the beast. When I'm getting stuff out the door for commercial ventures...digi is the only way to go these days, but for my own personal satisfaction, I need a little more meat. Not that I don't learn a new trick every time I work with Photoshop...and even after 6 years there is stuff I dont have a clue about. I get most stuff right "in-camera" so my photoshop work is mainly...sharpen a bit...and resize for the proper media. It gets so automatonic at times... one firm thigh or Botoxed brow after another... But these alternative processes feed my soul and allow me to reach what my mother used to call my "calling": PROFESSIONAL MESSMAKER.

Wonderful info, Windy.
Bromoils aren't near as time-consuming - they can be done in only three different sittings, woo hoo! The one you posted here is one of my favorites of yours.
