My Photos Are OK to Edit

Hello Everybody!
My experience with photography started with a compact 35mm and kind of stalled. In about 1998 I went to work selling machine vision systems. These high speed systems are used in the industrial world to take pictures of products as they go down the production line. It was during that time that I realized how important lighting is.
In 2003 I purchased a Fuji S5000 and have learned a lot with it. I like firearms quite a bit and it seems that photography and target shooting go hand in hand, practice makes perfect. My learning never stops so I have joined ya'll in the quest for good quality photographs. Here are some photos I have taken and edited with GIMP:    With almost 7800 pictures taken with the Fuji I think it's time to upgrade to a true SLR.
