Let battle commence

A close up of my son's Staunton-design chess set at the start of a game. The board was naturally lit from a window beyond and above the board. I placed a white card beyond the board (though it looks grey here!) to silhouette the chessmen.

Interesting image.
A wonderful variety of tones and shapes.
Good job.

Thanks for the kind comments SympL, Tirediron & Corinna. The last time I photographed chessmen was about thirty years ago - also in black and white!! (Thankfully no one spotted the mistake I made when I quickly set up the board for the shot , or perhaps everyone's too kind to mention it )

Regards, Tony

Yes, the board is the wrong way round, thus while the king and queen are technically on the correct colours, they are in fact in the wrong positions

I wouldn't have noticed if you hadn't said anything.

Love the shot by the way
