amazing. how did you get the sun to make a star like that? is that done with a long exposure (like nighttime photography) or a filter of some kind?

These are great compositions! I really like the second shot - the leading lines of the shadow to the grass and the fine detail in the sand. Very nice!

Making the sun into a star is generally caused by small aperture openings - it can be a cool effect. Not saying that is how the OP created it but call it a guess.

Ernie, this was indeed achieved by stopping down and in this case may have been as small as f29 or f32.

Both are very nice and minimal. I really enjoy the second one. The texture and lines are perfect in direction and composition. You ARE going to print these out and hang them on your wall/sell them so others can hang them on their walls, right?
