Buying lights for indoor photography.

I'm currently planning to turn an alcove in my bedroom into a 'mini studio' of sorts, where I can shoot macro and general product shots against a neutral background. I was wondering what, if any lights are available that offer a colour temperature similar to sunlight. Any links or general advice on this would be greatly appreciated.

As long as you use the same type of lights and only that type you'll be fine. You can buy flters for your camera which will make sure what is going through the lens and onto the film is ok and won't give you a colour cast. You can also buy film which is for tungsten light.
I can't help you with what filters do what, I've been meaning to ask for a while myself.

I've never actually used a film camera - I've shot digital since day one. I'm keen to try it out one day, but right now it's prohibitively expensive and time consuming.

In which case you have no issues. If you use the same type of lights you'll be fine. Just set the white balance of your camera.
