That's a great article! It was encouraging too. For at least the first year I was shooting, I was so enamored with how many shots I could take consecutively, I used the 'spray and pray' technique almost exclusively. And, felt quite proud of myself as well. Now, it's about eight years later and somehow, although I've never shot much film seriously, I managed to learn to take my time and care about each shot.

I like your suggestions toward the end. I think new photographers can really benefit from this learning technique and maybe save themselves some time on the way to being a better shooter.

Hello, i want to say thanks for a great read. I personally have never used a film camera and can understand exactly what you are saying. I feel that being able to "spray and pray" allowed me to advance into more manual shooting much quicker than i could with film. If you handed me a camera and i wasnt able to shoot some images and play with my exposure on the fly i would be devistated. I would still be shooing on program! I will have a more mature outlook on my photography because of you blog. Thanks again.
