Some pictures I took in Mexico. Two of the shots are really similar, I know, but I couldn't decide which I liked better, and for the third, I'm not sure about how the sky just ended up looking white. C & C please

these hurt my eyes. i think they are blurry and not enough contrast. good black and whites shuld have pure whites and pure black and all the tones in between.

Appreciate the advice.
Ok, so other then the blurry (I hadn't been sure if that was just my eyes :p lol), just to understand, the other problem is that there's too much grey and not enough actual black and white to offset it? I noticed a lot of black and whites are more on the simple side-avoiding to many different shades- is that why?
Just trying to understand the whole "concept" behind the black and whites. I knew it to do with more then just a lack of colour, but I don't know what else lol.
