I took this picture last summer...forgot I had it! Is there anything I could to to improve?

You cropped his head very very tight, would like a little more room top and bottom.
Seems oddly processed as well, like almost HDR or some Lightroom Clarity filter too high.

yes it seems cartoonish...maybe without that effect...

I like the processing. I think the crop is good too, forces us to focus on his/her eyes.

I'd like to see one not cropped as tightly though, just for reference.
