    Well done... Nice composition, like the spiral.... Also might work with the subject (dial) not centered and in the top left 1/3.

    Not sure I would have to see it first, but if I were going to experiment I would start with thirds. That said I do like SJ's image, my focus was more on the shape of the spiral and trying to get it out of the center.

    Yep, I agree. It's a very strong image as is. Furthermore, compositional guidelines differ dramatically with square format, which lends itself to centering.
