I've got a friend looking for this lens used for about $1,000.
Any chance he'll find it for that price?
Thanks.

No. Maybe the MK I version with no IS.
That's a long shot for the MK II... Very long. Longer than 200mm kind of long shot.

Girl, I like that you don't have AIDS, and that you covered the rent when I don't get paid. The dinner that you simmer-sauté'd made it so I haven't been to Taco Bell in like DAYS.
Not a snowball's chance in hell. Used, broken? Maybe.

I doubt it. I found a version 1 non-IS used for 995.00, and a version 1 IS for $1300.00 used.
Thanks. That's what I told them.
A year or so ago, someone in the other Canon forum said he bought a the MK1 version with IS for $9xx. (local craigslist) And later on got a call from a cop ask him to send that lens to the police station as an evidience since it was a stolen item. (Someone broken into a studio and cleared it out)
So if you are able to find the MKII for $1000, chances are .... either it is broken or hot.
I just saw a CraigsList posting this afternoon for an f/4 IS version for $950obo so an f/2.8 is gonna be really hard to find for a grand.

Unfortunately, these guys are all right. Our local camera shop has a used MK1 in the window for $995. Not sure if it was IS or not.
Not a 2.8 II with IS. MAYBE the 2.8 without IS. The f/4 IS goes for about $1k used.
The one kidney king.
