I have had this lens and my D3100 for about two months now. Really happy with it. The body is basic and nothing special, and I'm new to DSLR, but I understand all the basics of photography very well and am always learning more and more. As far as I'm concerned, this lens is perfect for me, it has the range from wide to tele. Have nothing bad to say about these lens, I would recommend them to anyone without high needs. Got them for €500 here in Estonia.
