LED retrofit for Omega enlargers
Just wanted to announce that I am selling a retrofit LED lamp house for Simmon Omega D-series variable condenser enlargers. Right now they are on eBay until I get a website up. These are being offered mostly as a service to the film community. The market for enlarger accesories is so small that no big company is going to spend money to service it. Search "LED lamp house for omega" on eBay to find it. Take a look and let me know what you think.

My apologies. Where is the appropriate place to post this?

This would be AMAZING awesome if you could continuously vary the contrast like you can with higher end enlargers. LED would be a perfect technology to implement this.
You could even use cyan, magenta and yellow LEDs and convert any b/w enlarger into a color enlarger, and write a program to automatically vary contrast...

Like many others, I tried making a VC LED lamp from blue and green LED's a few years ago with poor results. The problem is that bright, blue LED's are not blue enough to make hard contrast prints, while deep blue LED's are not very bright. Zone VII did have a product on the market for a while but it was very expensive. It turns out to be infinitely easier to use white LED's and VC filters which are stable and predictable. BTW, it's pretty easy to make your own LED light source if you are handy and have the time. Google it and you'll see some pretty cool home-made units.
Haven't tried color printing in the darkroom. I do all that on the computer.
