Compatibility Question
I have used my Nikon D40X quite a bit and have a few Nikkor DX lenses for it. However, I'm looking for something with a bit more "umph" to it to --- something I find the DX lenses have yet to provide. (By "umph" I mean zoom
)
After some thought, I find the Tamron SP AF200-500 F/5-6.3 and Sigma 150-500mm f/5-6.3 AF APO DG OS HSM are both cheap and for the most part are highly rated. I have never used Sigma or Tamron lenses before, but have had friends that have used them on Nikon D70s and have been pleased with the results. I would love to purchase one of these, BUT I do not know if I will run into any issues regarding the compatibility of this lens on the D40X. (Ex. Darker picture, distorted image etc.)
Probably an amatuer question, but better safe than sorry.
Thanks

The Bigma works just fine on my D60, and other Nikon bodies.

Check out posts by member Sabbath999 and use the keyword Bigma or 500. I'm pretty sure he likes it.
