    A450:
    MENU button - Tool Icon 2 - [Audio signals] - Select the desired setting

    550D;
    Under the Camera icon, select [BEEP], then press SET, select DISABLE, the press SET.

    I just looked up the manuals online.

    I always download the manual as a PDF, then save it on all 4 of my computers. If I ever need to look something up, I can Search for a keyword and find it faster than using the paper manual.

    Yes, but if you point the OP to the page that it is on... they will have to look in the manual and read. They will learn more than just getting the info they are looking for.

    Just to add you can remove the beep sound from the camera, however the actual "snapping" sound that a DSLR makes you can't remove at all because its a physical sound of the mirror slapping up and the shutter opening and closing to expose the sensor. Some camera's have a quite shooting mode (often linked to live view where the mirror is already flicked up) - but otherwise the snappy sound is going to remain unless you wrap the camera in soundproofing.

    That's what I was going to say. The OP asked about the snapping sound, not the beep.
    As mentioned, it's not a sound effect, it's the sound of the mirror slapping up and the shutter.
    There's no correlation between creativity and equipment ownership. None. Zilch. Nada. Actually, as the artist gets more into his thing, and as he gets more successful, his number of tools tends to go down. He knows what works for him. Expending mental energy on stuff wastes time.
