While walking along a street beside the Station Market - - - I was snooping in windows as I walked, and noticed an old man scraping animal hides inside a dark dungeon of a room. I did not stop that day - but kept the location in mind to return to.

When I was in that area of town, I walked the same path and came upon the building. This time a young man was inside stitching together saddle padding. The tanning procedure and the old man were not around. I wasn't going to pass by the location again without something photographically.

I bent into the window and asked in Spanish, if I could take photos of him working. He agreed and I grabbed a few pics while leaning in the window and the open door. There was no space for me to go inside. I asked when the older man would be tanning and he told me the days of the week that he does that.

At one point the fellow popped his head out the window to talk to me and when I saw this magnificent opportunity for a well framed portrait, I simply asked that he raise his arm up onto the sill and I GOT MY SHOT. Couldn't have been better, if I had fully planned it. On leaving, I took an overview shot of the building made of raw wood boards full of character.

While shooting some kids on the street playing cards in Leon Nicaragua - I went for an overhead view with my camera (the tilt screen - a reason I like my Olympus E-PL3).

They didn't really know what I was doing or shooting, so as I got in position and fired away - the card deck was added into the rest of the cards and shuffled - - - and underneath hidden from view, was the small stash of money they were playing with and obviously hiding from their parents or others walking by.

I then knew why when I asked if I could their picture, they really didn't want me to and two of the three turned their faces away from me. I took a few seconds of persistence to get the few pictures I was able to get. As well I extracted their names from them - Jose', Fresia and Freddy (as well as added 10 cordobas to their stash, as I left)

Hey all,

Just wanted to throw this out and see what people think in general. When shooting with the intention of creating an HDR image, what do you find the best number of exposures to be? I've heard some say 2 exposures, one for sky and the other for foreground.. I've heard 3 exposures (use AE Bracket) and I've heard some people talk about taking many exposures because it gives a larger range (not sure how I feel about that).

Would I be correct in assuming that the more exposures you shoot, the more ghosting you're going to have in an image and therefore not quite as clean/sharp? How many exposures do you take for an HDR? What's worked best for you?

When its come to making selection in Photoshop, most people stuck relying on the Lasso Tool but the most powerful tool in Photoshop to remove background of photo is Pen Tool. Every popular photo editing, graphics and page layout program uses the Pen Tool. The Pen Tool referred to as the Paths Tool, and that’s really the most appropriate name for it.

yeah so still not good enough.. my biggest sticking point is posing the model i guess? and i don't see ALL the details before I click the shutter at this point... CC would be very welcome.

My husband should be getting promoted very soon! The wife in me wants to pin his new chevrons on at the little ceremony they do.. the photographer in me wants him to have someone else do it, so I can photograph. haha

Not too much of a story here...I put a drop of maple syrup out in the garden to try and coax ants to stop for a taste and pose for some photos for my blog. This was my favourite.

Unfortunately I have no idea what species they are...
