I recently inherited this tripod. Its reasonable quality so I'd like to put it into service. However, it's missing the quick release plate. It has one decal, "ProSpec", which I googled but couldn't find enough (any?) information to determine the manufacturer or model number. Can any of you helpful souls identify the manufacturer and model number or point me in the right direction to obtain a replacement? Thanks.
I'll barely ever (if ever) use it for photography; however, it'll be an added benefit if the camera is great for both videos and photos, but I truly only need it to be great for videos.
...close ups (flowers, food), some portrait/people/pet action shots and learning macro (capturing the detail in a honeybee's wing.)

I'm still reading up on the modern technical aspects of digital SLR cameras that I'm not familiar with (as opposed to film SLRS), and have been to a couple of local stores (Target & hhgregg - haven't been to the mall yet) but neither had the Pentax k-30. Anyone have the Pentax? A family member has the T3i and I like it, particularly the articulated LCD screen. I've eliminated Nikon bodies based solely on comfort in the hand for me, though I won't rule out lenses. Which brings me to

Which camera has the most versatility/options for lens compatibility? I have a few old Pentax lenses I'd like to be able to use.

I like close-up work and would like to move smaller into the macro field. Is there anyone who does true macro work with a preference? I suspect the water-resistant and stabilization body features of the Pentax could be a benefit, especially if using old lenses that don't have stabilization options.

Anyone have comments on significant differences between pentamirror and pentaprism viewfinders, if any, in actual use?

And being a visual type person I have to say I like the white body option of the Pentax...even though it does nothing for the pictures.

I just want to mess around and take pictures, but sometimes i cant take the pictures I want because i lack a tripod. Night scenes, some landscape stuff. I also shoot video, and sometimes i want a static shot.

So any recommendations? I try to look up reviews for tripods i find in the 150~200 dollar range, but there isnt much information around about tripods in that level i guess.

Hi, I'm new to this forum and relatively new to photography outside of point and shoots. I currently have a Fuji X-E1 with the 35mm and 18-55mm lenses. I absolutely adore this camera and the lenses but I'd like to be able to do some telephoto work for birding, light astronomy (moon etc.), and just shots that I can't conveniently get close to. Fuji is about to release the new 55-200mm lens for the Fuji X-mount and I had originally planned to get that. However, I feel on some level that having such a huge lens on the Fuji more or less negates the design purpose of a mirror less like the X-E1.
So here's what I've been thinking... I can get a Nikon D7000 with the 70-300mm lens (both factory refurb with warranty) for roughly another 300 bucks.. which would give me another camera and a much longer telephoto zoom. The added bonus of having the other camera would be that it would give me a camera for my wife to use when I decide to go into photography mode.

Any thoughts or experiences with the 70-300mm? Which would be better for my purposes?

I own Nikon D5100, which I have bought last week as my first Dslr camera, and as a attached lens, I bought the tamron 17-50, with the vc motor. So, I would like to hear your opinion in some issue.. I bought the tamron with vc motor, which is, according to some reviews and opinions of users, no better than the non-vc version. I understood that the non-vc lens is much better, and have a better quality than the vc one. I really feel that I did a mistake when I chose to buy the vc one.. Maybe I did a wrong selection.. Someone can make me more peaceful about my purchase?

Nikon has some cameras with built-in focus motor like the D90, D200, D300 etc. And I know that these can focus AF lens whereas the lower-end cameras can't autofocus AF lens.
Does Canon have some cameras with built-in focus motors and some without built-in focus motor?
There are the T2i, D200 and the D80 and I don't know which one I should take.
But with actual transfer of hot shoe POWER from the shoe to the entire rail. What you see above is just a metal bar that physically attaches to the shoe, but will not trigger flashes etc. without a pc cord or whatever.

There are products that transfer power to another single shoe higher up (allowing for extra cord plugins etc. in between), but no product I can find that transfers power to the entire rail.

Basically what I want to do is to have one flash right on top of my camera, as well as a one or two wireless transmittesr that sends a signal to flash(es) off-camera, and for all devices to be triggered by the shutter without having to have extra unnecessary cords and things.

The transmitters have their own batteries that actually power the signal. They only rely on the hot shoe power as a switch, basically. So it shouldn't be any issue of not enough juice.

This is such an obvious product that I refuse to give up too easily. It must have been made somewhere...
