    Precision Filter

    Hello,

I recently bought a second hand Praktica MTL3. With it I got several lenses (28mm f2.8, 50mm f1.8, 135mm f2.8), a flash and a precision filter. The man who sold me the camera + accessories told me he used the filter to protect the lens from scratches. I was wondering what the intended use is of a precision filter.

Just as a side note: I'm quite new to photography so I don't have much knowledge about the subject.

Thank you for your help in advance.

"precision filter"... You just gotta tell us what kind of filter that is, please. Most likely it is a Sky 1A or UV if it was used for general purpose protection. What brand is it?

Yes I know its kind of vague but thats the only descriptive words on the box. The brand is "Pallas". I googled it but could not find a description of a precision filter. On the filter itself the following is written: PALLAS 49mm R1.5 JAPAN

I believe the "R1.5" refers to a Skylight filter.
