    Got it.

    Lets Start again.

    With your Self portrait.

You have your way of working, and you demand instant results.

I post my work when its done, but as a film guy I (mistake) was hoping for people to understand that it is a different process.

A week to me is probably an hour to you.

One upmanship is a friendly way of showing off, And to promote fellow enthusiasts to do better than you. How else would you grow?

A "friendly way of showing off" comes off as "I am infallible, no one can do better" from the get-go. People post on here for C&C, not to have their egos stroked.

I've developed film before. I have a dark room... It doesn't take a week. I understand it's inherently a longer process... But not a week long. That's why I failed to see the point of a thread saying "Hey, check out my work, and expect it to be better than yours," yet have it be devoid of work.

This is just my PoV. I'm not speaking for anyone else on the forum.

Sorry, gotta side with Tyler on this one.

You set the bar really high when you say stuff like "so I can one-up you" --Even if it's good spirited. Your role in this burger joint is to deliver an exceptional self-portrait, hold the excuses, with a side of kick-assery.

I dont have a "role" in this burger joint.

I just enjoy a good piece of camera work.

Like the one you did not contribute.

we can go on and on, I admit, until we see some pictures.

The promise of something does not equal irony.

It does until the promise actually manifests into an action.

    At least in my book.

My opinion may change when you actually post a photo in relation to the thread that you started.

For pete's sake, who cares when the OP posts?! Tyler, Rotanimod, I started reading this thread just like you, and picked up on nothing more than some jocular comments and an invitation to join in. The OP has explained it's film he's using and that will take more time. I get seriously sick and tired of the digital crowd instantly assigning the "I am infallible, no one can do better" attitude even when the OP was trying to explain himself it was tongue in cheek. Okay, so he opened a thread and doesn't have a film SP ready to post while he invited others to play. Gee, what a crime from a newbie on an internet forum.

If you use digital and you aren't interested, run along and play in another section of the playground. But please stop being so quick to assign attitudes to which you can respond with your own high & mighty responses. It doesn't fly.

OK. A film self-portrait. The first in a 3 page thread on film self portraits that as of yet contains no actual self portraits. Why my self portrait rules: I'm drinking bourbon in the time machine from the Twelve Monkeys set. Yes, I missed focus, but there was bourbon involved.
