    Can you Guess?

It was silent when the First World War was declared.
It was silent through the Great Depression.
It was silent when the Second World War ended.
It was silent when the first rockets touched the sky.
It was silent when Earth heard the cosmic whispers.
It was silent when Saigon fell.
It was silent when the Great Leap faltered.
It was silent when the Twin Towers became dust.
    And it is still silent.
But at one time, it was pretty.

    What is it?

It appears to be a rather colorful slate roof.

Correct! Part of a Victorian mansion being worked on by my crew. Unfortunately, the slate is not top quality, and there are a lot of cracks in it. As well, the fasteners were iron nails and the rust from them colored the surface. This section was probably one of the best sections in terms of damage. That said, it has lasted about 120 years.

I too thought this to be SOL
Silence is Gold- So keep that in reserve; Speech is Silver-so use that for day to day requirements

Past is a broken Pot: Throw it away urgently
Present is a Pot: Handle it gently
Future is a lump of Clay: Mould it Intelligently
