Black Swans
Sequence of shots here - something disturbed the birds (not me!) and I was lucky enough to get them taking off. These are untouched shots, taken with the aged Praktica and 400mm lens on tripod. It was probably quite comic, me frantically panning, adjusting focus, winding on film etc, but I got the shots!

This is one swan calmly cruising.

Starting to take flight

Gaining height

In flight

Gone
Same location, this pelican decided to spread his wings a bit.

Total of 5 films back today, so I'll post some more soon.
Cheers

Nice. I love bird shots. The only problem that really jumps out at me is the horizon is way off level.
That Pelican is really great.Stan

Jewel: good action!! It's great to be at the right place at the right time, isn't it? My fave is the last shot, what a character!!

Thanks all.
Yeah, Stick35, I seem to have that problem - must be because I look at life like this (picture head off to one side...)
In this case the horizon was the last thing to think about because the swans were getting away and the tripod was hampering me a bit. I'm usually not quite as bad if I have time to set the shot up properly, but I've noticed I do it all the time in snapshot mode, and always the same way.
Cheers
