July first, 1867, Canada became a country, seperate from Brittian, but still with ties with England. Im not sure if the queens job in our country has deminished over the last 137 years or if she was just the person taht signed bills that were to become new laws, and didnt really ahve a vote on it either way. Now her job is done by the govenor general when shes not here, which is almost 100% of the time, as far as I know. hehe, and this could mostly be wrong but this is what I picked up in history class, not that I got a good mark in it.
Not every province that is in Canada now was a province in 1867. I think most of the others were terretories. Then slowly the otheres joined with Canada. Also the last province to join was only like 50-75 years ago I think. Once again I could be wrong on the numbers.
