Bump, I forgot to mention that the 2nd from last pic was my first attempt at using HDR.

Did you take these for you photo class or just for yourself?

    Timaaaay.
Sorry. I was away and did not have the chance (or on the rare moment I did have the chance not really the time) to check out TPF much.

    Well.
While the first two don't really "grab" me, though I appreciate your short DOF (depth of field) and chosen POV (point of view) in the second, the third photo made me stay with it a little longer. There is something of interest there in the way the light only just "passes" that building there, lighting it only a little, actually only its prominent and reflecting parts, leaving all else in shadow. Acknowledging that, I kept wondering why the photo as such still does not really, I mean REALLY speak to me. And I think there is some flaw in its composition. There is too much there next to that building and the light that almost "sculptures" it (if such big word can be used for such mundane wooden structure ). This photo would want to be horizontal, with no trees to be seen above the building, and full focus on that building against the bright lake and bright sky only. That is my feeling here. And short of going to re-shoot this one, a crop of the existing photo may already help?

I am thinking of something like this, for example:

Though, hmmmmm --- even after further highlighting the darkest shadow parts to bring out some more detail there, and after selectively working a little more on the contrasts of the wood and windows, I am not THAT happy with the result...

As a lover of green and swamps, I like the last photo for what it shows. Only is it a tad small ...
