Do you "give back to the community?"

If so, what do you do?

Twice a year I run a "Portraits in the Park" fundraiser here in town. I donate a portion of the session fee to The Weekend to End Breast Cancer. Last fall I raised over $600!!

I donate my police and fire pictures to the police and fire departments. They use them for training and slide shows.

I don't know if this counts but i am an active member of NILMDTS and Celebrating Adoption. I am hoping the next time I'm in LA to be able to donate my time and give back to CHLA as well since my daughter was a patient when she was brand new.

I help organize a charity sailing regatta each year, which supports disabled children. About 50 families with a disabled child also get to come out and go sailing that day, and enjoy the big barbecue and activities afterwards. It raises about $150,000 each year.

I've not done much. I will give free senior portraits if the family is really strapped. It's hard to know when to do this. I've only been able to do it twice.

And I will make photos for naturalization for next to nothing.

Also, I'll give huge discounts to clergy.

I volunteer at my local animal shelter photographing (mostly) dogs for their website. I make $$ donations to our local volunteer fire/rescue service. I make clothing/misc donations to local GoodWill. I help little old ladies across the street when I can. I recycle/reduce/reuse also.

I donate 10% of my retainer to a charity of the clients choice in the clients name so that they get the write off. If the client doesnt have a charity I have 4 that I support.

I stay away from my community, they seem to appreciate that.

I'm working as crew this year, so have already finished my fundraising! I'm helping the rest of my team now though...we're doing a big pub night on the 15th which should be a ton of fun.

Where abouts are you located? It's pretty easy to raise a lot of money in a weekend or two with your camera...
