just wanted to find out how often do people actually hire lenses instead of buying them? so my question is what sorts of lenses would you hire and how long for? and the make Nikon/canon/sigma and so on!!
its a uni project Im doing so it would be great if people could help
photographer who hire lenses...... what do do you think of the current hire rates and what would you like to see more of??? This could be from lenses to the service you get.... any ideas or suggestions are welcome and much appreciated

Welcome to the forum.

I hire lenses before I buy them just to see if they will work for me, but I don't do it often because if I did it would be cheaper just to buy them.

If its for a Uni project go talk to Lenses For Hire Ltd. they are a really great bunch and would happily answer all your questions.

i usually rent nikon's 70-200 f/2.8. I don't particularly like the lens itself, which is why i would never pay 2+ grand for something i would hardly ever use, but when i'm shooting triathlons, the damn thing almost does my job for me :p

Not much, most of the holes in the market are filled, there are companies that provide good and bad service, prices are low and so there isn't a lot of wiggle room there. It would be nice if I could find somewhere that you could rent Wimberley Heads and decent tripods from though.

No longer a newbie, moving up!
Not many companies have the bigger pro lens like Nikon 300mm f2.8, 400mm, 500mm and 600mm bigger. I rented a Nikon 70-200mm f2.8 for three day then I bought one.
