What do you do with a Canon 400d when it's old and grey?

My first DSLR was a Canon 400D. I loved it , and it gave some very good service. It was replaced with a 500d and later with a 5D MkII and a 7D. So now it has no niche. You can't sell them (You can't give them away as they "Arn''t cool".

Well , remove the lowpass filter on the sensor , replace it with a 720 Nanometer jobby, and.....

Standard lenses work fine , hand held at iso 100 is no problem. you don't even need good light...

    Hello there!

I was wondering if you refocus for IR with your conversion? Since most digital lenses lack the IR markings (unless you spend some good money on them), do you have a rule of thumb to follow?

Love the effect! The photography ain't half-bad either (delivered in a Bogart voice).

So... how'd you go about getting the conversion done, and how do you meter/focus?
