    Understanding RAW

I've recently come across this informative explanation of RAW vs JPEG. I haven't read it all yet but from what I have read...it's easy to understand and well written.

    Great artical Mike.

Although the last section where it talks about stops and colours is very very confusing. I didn't udnerstand what the hell he was talking about until that last table comparing jpeg and raw came up. I still don't get what he's talking about though with this 5 stop things and saying that highlights have over 2000 colours and shadows only have 256. hmmm....ok I think I get it now.... just when I wrote that.

But it doesn't make sense to me that highlights can have more colours than mid tones.

Meh, but I don't really care... coz I'm converted to raw. I just love how much more flexible it is and how forgiving it is with the exposure.
