Hi guys and Gals, I thought I had it decided, my entries for the Open mono Print competition this week. But I took another yesterday which i like, too! So, if anyone has thoughts My original choice (I have actually cropped a tiny bit from the right): Squire Lock and Chains mono rust by http://bendthelight.me.uk, on Flickr My new image (a sculpture at Yorkshire Sculpture Park) A Wabbitsass mono by http://bendthelight.me.uk, on Flickr Any thoughts gratefully received.
I like the first photo but the second one makes me smile and I wonder whether the second one will stand out as different from the rest? I dunno, only you can decide, but I do like the humour in the second one. Good luck
Thanks Tish. I like the humour of the second, too. The club is funny...some like the basic stuff, but we are starting to get some who like things a little different. Thanks
So what did you choose? I agree that it just all depends on what the judges are looking for, as these are good in completely different ways. I would probably have chosen the first. I love the light and the contrast in this photo and the emotion it invokes, for me at least. It speaks (to me) of history and exploration. The second is not as technically good, imo, but...it's just funny. It invokes perhaps even a stronger emotion than the first. I mean, who doesn't love seeing a giant rabbit butt?!? On a side note: What is that thing made of; concrete? And what are the gear-looking objects in its feet? It's a really interesting sculpture; I think I'd like to see it from other angles as well.
Thanks...I printed them both and I will let my man know what to do when I have finally decided. To be fair, the Wabbitsass looks great in print...Arrrgh, I dunno! It seems to be made of some sort of metal cast...it has alsorts of objects embedded in it, the cogs are just part of it. There are a couple more shots in this thread: Some HDR, including a rabbits bottom!
The first one is a form of art. The second one is a rabbits ass. Don't take me the wrong way here bro. The second one also has elements. Less is more. The people walking in the background and the tin building, hinder this image. Don't do it man. Enter the first one.
Cheers LS. I like the people in it though...they make the photo in my opinion. We'll see when I finally decide...I printed both so I could leave it last minute.
I like the first one, but the second one just makes me crack up. I would go for the second one.
Well, I have chosen...competition tonight...I'll let you know how it goes.
So which one did you choose? Just out of curiousity?
