    Hunting Beetles

Lily the kitten seems quite fond of catching beetles and releasing them in the house for me. While I was snapping some shots of her in the backyard, she happened to come upon one.

    "What on earth is THAT!?"

The beetle tries to make his escape while Lily is distracted.

She quickly turns back to the task at hand.

The poor thing never had a chance. (Aren't I just great at focusing?)

Watching intently as the beetle, once again, tries to make his escape.

Mmmm, yummy. Who doesn't love beetle for lunch?

    "Got it!"

I did try to prevent her from catching the poor thing, but she ran across the yard with it. She finally released it on the back step, but not before trying to dash into the house with it. I guess a live beetle in the house is better than a dead squirrel on the back step like another cat used to leave me. The joys of kittens...

This is a funny series! I like it. Shows cats just as they are: something small moves and all their instincts have them chase it until they catch it.

The first photo is the funniest by far. How ever can a cat look like THAT!?!?!

We have had dead mice, rats, birds (when my cat kills birds I am sad for the bird!) inside the house before ... not nice. But cats are cats.
