    This reminds me of the door into The Secret Garden. I like the composition and have little advice to offer except that i would have tuned down the exposure maybe one stop. So use a quicker shutter speed or make the aperture smaller.

    I like it too - a lot. I tried to lighten the shadows while bringing down the brightness of the stone, but I was in a hurry and while I like the stone better, I think I went a little overboard with the shadow lightening and now it makes my heard hurt. So take that as a lesson on what not to do.

    I think the best you can probably do is go back with less harsh lighting - overcast or in the morning and you'll get better than any edit is going to do.

    I like the composition here, doesn't distract from the main subject and a vertical framing is the right choice. However, it really lacks contrasts and needs a less harsh light. Contrasts are a must (for me at least) when showing off old and "rusty" textures, gives it a whole new depth.
