    Great series of photos here. Reminds me of my yard in El Paso...never knew what Xeriscape was until I moved there! haha.

    good job with these jth, i like the close up 3, 5 is cool and man those things grow TALL....like in 7&9, the bird in the last shot is good also

    The last 2 with the closeup of the stalks are beautiful. I like the comp on these alot..All those little green buds bursting forth with yellow flowers must be something else..Nice series!

    OMG, can't believe those hummingbird shots! At rest, and from above. AWESOME captures there. (I really liked the plant shots too)

    JTH, those are rockin' shots! thanks for providing the links. Can't believe all the ones where you got stop-action on the wings. I'm looking forward to sticking a hummingbird feeder in my garden plot this summer and seeing if I can get some decent shots.

    those from the summer were too easy... i had about 20 birds fighting over one feeder and they weren't that skiddish... i think i have a snapshot of one perched on the bill of my cousin's baseball cap...

    saul, in my original post i briefly explained that my dad told me this stalk was a "death sentence" for this particular species of Agave. It gets to bloom once and then dies... i guess we will see...
