Interesting stuff! Thanks for the links, I may have a try at this.

This looks really cool, I want to try it! One question (maybe someone here can answer, maybe not), I use a nikon N80 and D50. When I move the manual aperture ring (on my 50mm 1.8 for example) the camera will not trip the shutter. I get an error of some kind. So if I attach a lens without cpu contacts does this happen also? If so, I could not use this type of setup, is this correct? Anyone know?
Thanks

I don't know, but in one of these DIY plunger lens articles the guys says to cover up the lens contacts with electrical tape, or the camera body won't function correctly.

Not sure about your model Nikon's. Mine are all D1 series and something like this works fine in manual mode. Try using a older MF Nikon lens on your camera and see if you can shoot manual. I am fairly sure you can do this, but you probably will not have metering on your Nikon bodies.
As always, JMHO.
