Been spending a lot of time on here!
Budget SLR's
I am a student and am in the market right now for a medium format SLR. Bronica, Kiev, etch. Thing is I am kind of on a budget. <$100. So is there maybe a few models that I could check out that tend to stay on the lower end of the Ben Franklin? Thanks.

I spend too much of my life on TPF!
I haven't seen a ton under $100 unfortunately. Realistically for something like a Kiev/Bronica/Mamiya that won't break down immediately you're looking at around $300.
I'm looking for the same thing... although there are some TLRs out there for closer to $100 but remember, you get what you pay for. IMHO save up the extra $200 and get something that'll last.

I don't think you'll find a reliable MF SLR for under $100 unless you luck out at a yard sale
or something like that.
There are plenty of good TLRs selling in that range though.
For a little over $100 you might find a Koni Omega Rapid which is an interchangeable lens
rangefinder camera capable or great results.

Yeah... I think I've kind of come to terms. I'll probably get a choice of a pretty nice camera when I go to college...probably end up just buying a 5D Mark II.

In your budget, the best you're going to do in medium format is a yashica TLR. Great camera, nothing to scoff at.

older yashica TLRs like the Yashica A or Yashica C are in that price range. they do a decent job for what its worth.
otherwise, invest more money and get a nicer MF camera.
5D Mk II? meh.

I've actually got 4 of those. A, C, D, and Mat-124G

If you sold all four of those you may be able to afford a decent medium format SLR outfit.
Are you looking to buy something to use or are you a camera collector?

As we discussed Alex, I would steer clear of Kiev. They look like nice cameras but have a well deserved reputation for unreliability. And the Kiev optics are really not in the same league as the Hassy CZ optics.

I use all the cameras I buy.

I'll keep that in mind for sure.
