A series of flowers - being more compositional
Like the title says I was trying to be a little better at my composition this time around - so any advice on that (as well as any technical details of course) would be greatly appreciated:
all taken with: canon 400D and simga 70-300mm f4-5.6 DG macro with popup flash and diffuser (toilet paper
)

f16, ISO 100, 1/8sec + boosted blacks in RAW editing

I saw this and knew what I wanted it to look like, but had to shoot from further off than I like to with flowers (at least 0.5m) so the details are a little less defined that I would have liked

Specifically to composition, I like what you are trying to achieve in the last two. The Bokeh itself is being pulled in as part of the main dish rather than just a side dish.

For me, I think your best one is #5. The angle and background DOF make it work for me!
If you think you know everything....you just aren't pushing enough!!

Good Job!
I like 1, 5, and 6 best. 5 might also be interesting cropped.

Thanks for the comment and complitments all.
5 I have thought about cropping a little of the top of the shot as I find its just sitting there are not doing very much but taking up space

No longer a newbie, moving up!
These are great shots, I like the second one the most, great bokeh. Are these pictures strait from your camera? Thanks for sharing, and good job on all of them.

Canon 100mm 2.8 macro
Canon 50mm 1.8

I think I understand what usayit is saying about the bokeh being part of the main dish. If you can acheive that kind of bokeh at f/16, try opening up the aperture to say f/5.6 to f/8 and see what results you get. I'm not thinking isolation will increase, but the background should become much smoother and less detectable of what the background subject is.
Nice shots overall,

I could be wrong, but I doubt it.
