I love how the light was low in the sky. It gives more depth to the feathers. I like the DOF and background too. Not too distracting but gives it placement. Just my 2 cents though. I'm still a newbie.

Dan, nice sharp image, but the thing for me when I do bird photography that close, I want to be able to see the eyes; I want them to be in focus and I hope that I can get a catchlight in the eye(s) as well. Here, I cannot see them, so I cannot tell if they are in focus, nor can I see a catchlight.
