HELP! Which lense should i get next!?

Hello,

I'm currently shooting with a Nikon D90, Tokina 11-16mm 2.8

Since i'm mainly shooting friends live bands i'm wondering which lens i should get next out of these two:

Nikkor 24-70mm 2.8

or

Nikkor 70-200mm 2.8

Could anyone recommend what lens i should get next and benefit from having.

Nikon doesn't make a 70-300 mm f/2.8, but they make a 70-300mm f/4-5.6G .

The 24-70 is a "normal" lens, i.e. you dont have much tele and even less wide (at least with DX, with FX its the other way around), thus its the most general kind of lens.

The 70-200 is a portrait lens (head portrait) and a tele.

It really depends upon how successful your friends are. If they play in stadions, the 70-200mm might still not be enough range and you might want a teleconverter on top. If they play in pubs, the 24-70 should be plenty.

Im leaning towards the 24-70mm because my friends usually play in local punk clubs and i can get fairly close and having a quality standard lens is pretty much a must in photography.
