From the moment a friend handed me something to smoke 20some years ago and said, "you have to listen to this..." to today, my favorite band would be Pink Floyd and my all time favorite guitarist would be David Gilmour.
Note, I don't smoke that particular "stuff" anymore, nor have I in many many years. And what he wanted me to listen to was none other than Comfortably Numb.
As much as I love Floyd and think Gilmour is the greatest guitar soloist, my 2nd favorite band is Led Zeppelin and I would put Jimmy Page on top for the best overall guitarist.
I have every Floyd album and every Zeppelin album. I can't say that about any other bands.

Hmm...I just started listening to Eluvitie (Elveytee). They are not too bad, kinda sound like Seven Nations on Steroids. Anyone else heard of em?

^ I definitely have...I own their album 'Spirit'. They're actually a very good folk metal band. If you can get into that style, check out Turisas, Tyr, Ensiferum, and maybe Finntroll.

Cool, thanks for the names. I'll check em out. It all started with me when I heard Seven Nations for the first time...and I still like em. Though no longer together....oh well.

Here too, though I'm more into the Opeth, Avenged Sevenfold, and Tool side of things. (Meshugga too, but they don't really fit in with the others on my list!)
And then there's the Classic Rock streak: Pink Floyd and the Beatles especially
And then there's the CLassical thing (Way too many to list, but Mahler always gets a mention)
