Oh my, and here I go ... choking on a simple aspirin when I need to take one.

This is ever so interesting to watch!
How often does it feed on a baby rat. At first sight, such baby rat looks like it is nourishment for a couple of days, but little do I know.

And do you go buy those baby rats frozen in a specialised shop for exotic animals, like I go buy cat food in a shop that sells all sorts of animal food and hey or wood pellets for cages and all that?

I have fed her only 3 times myself, since i got her on 21st of august. But i fed her 7 days apart. Now gonna feed her 5 days after this feeding. Since the rat was rather small. After that im gonna try and find some bigger rats. So i feed her every 5-7 days. So you were correct to think its enough for a couple of days.
I buy the rats at a petstore that is also specialized in reptiles. Straight from the freezer.

That's a good active snake you have there!
I had one for over 10 years, it finally died from age.
As they get older you won't have to feed it very often... you probably know that though.
The mice started getting expensive, so I raised them. (very easy... lol)
oh, if you decide to feed it live mice... do NOT put two in the cage at once... when it gets one of the mice the other mouse will fight...

I think those Ball Pythons are really tough snakes... it lasted through my care...

And i wont be feeding my snake (her name is Spot) mice. Its rats all the way for her. If she grows up, mice will just be to small. And it sometimes can be a bit of a pain to get ball pythons from eating mice to eating rats. So im really glad she took this rat with a big bite.
Also wont be feeding her live. Heard too many stories of snakes being attacked by feeders. And there isnt really a point to feed her live is she takes popsickle rats
And i definetly wont be raising my own rats.......those things just smell bad and stuff. And its just to big of a hassle to breed rats for one snake.

I tried to feed my snake a rat, the snake wouldn't eat the rat so I put the rat into one of those plastic animal containers.
Somehow the container got shoved under a pile of junk in the garage and I forgot about it.
About two months later I found the cage, with the rat still in it... The rat grew about 5 times it's size. I was freaked out because it was still alive...

I needed to get rid of it so I just tossed some rat poison in and waited... horrible thing...
I have a slight fear of rats. Oh, and btw... live rats/mice CAN climb up their own tails and bite you. I know this from experience.

i made another snake feeding video again. Thought that some people would like to see it. I deleted the first video i posted though. But Spot is alot bigger now and eats bigger prey items than the first video. The rest is pretty much the same. First part is the actual speed and the second part is 1/10 of the speed. Its about 7 mb and is about 30 seconds long.

I've been thinking about getting a pet snake for a while but i'm a bit worried that it will either grow to be a massive snake and try and kill my cat or birds or that it will escape and cause havoc in the house!

What are the best snakes for keeping as pets? I was thinking about getting a Childrens Python, i'm told they don't grow very big and they're super-docile?

There are several kinds of snakes that can be called best snakes for keeping as pets. I got a Ball Python and thats my first snake. I really like her and she is really docile too. But some people will tell you balls arent really the best beginners snake and tell you to get a Cornsnake and so on and so on. But the best thing to do is too look at what kind of snake you want and start from there.
I choose the ball python because it doesnt get that big compared to other snakes, females are around 1.50m and males will be smaller. But they are fatter than other snakes and i really liked that.
Anyways, look around on the net. A good place to start is www.reptilescanada.com Lots of info to find there on alot of different reptiles.

Nice! I love ball pythons.

Ya, they are very fast when they want to be. Mine bit me once, he lunged at my hand all the way across his enclosure. It was just a little nip but it scared the heck out of me.

Funny thing is that he's the most docile snake. I've got a king snake that is a little devil but he's never bit me (not that's he's never tried though)
