Distress!!! I have some experience with what this feels like. Someone recently absconded with pretty much my entire kit right out of the cab of my truck. About $1700 worth of stuff. I was horrified. I consider myself extremely lucky, however, since it was also found and returned to me none the worse for wear except for having been rifled through. I think it may have helped that I'm a Minolta shooter. Basically everyone around me has either Nikon or Canon, so whoever it was probably figured a sackful of Minolta gear would raise a huge red flag if they tried to pawn it.
I hope you get as lucky as I did Sky!
