Pete, These are wonderful images. I particularly like the first one, but both are great. The composition and lighting are right-on. The kids will treasure these pix when they get older.

these are great. Can you tell me how you get the leaves crisp above the boys, but the background and foreground blurry?

Sure....
I used a 100mm lens. The camera I used has a "full-frame" sensor, so that makes the focal length twice that of a normal lens. I can't recall, but I think I was working around f4.5 or so. I'll look when I get back in the office tomorrow.
But I chose a nice, deep setting to work in. As you know, most of the depth-of-field will occur behind the plane on which you focus, so the foreground goes soft right away. Choosing a really deep setting allows the background to go soft. The leaves above the kids are in the same plane as them, so they remain in focus.
