C&C trying to get better with portraits
Hi all I am trying to get better with portrait photography and post processing. If you have any suggestions please let me know

Your main light is pretty good. You need a backlight of some sort to help separate the subject from the background, better, especially with the black hoodie/black background. Well, looking again, it looks like you may have a backlight, but maybe it needs to be repositioned or a bit brighter.
One big thing here though is that the eyes aren't in focus. It looks like the subjects head (top of the head) is pretty dead on but the eyes are soft and kind of hazed over because of it.
Keep doing it, it gets easier and easier and then you can get really creative.
