No longer a newbie, moving up!
there's too much shadow, also it looks kindof grainy.

I spend too much of my life on TPF!
The shadows don't bother me, but I think it looks fairly noisy. It's still a great image IMO.

I totally agree with rallysman. I think the posing, and the shadowing are perfect, but it's a bit noisy. Great capture overall IMO.

Thanks, I reduced the noise a bit here...

I like the shadow. Makes me think he could dissapear into it and knock the snot out of me before I found him again.
I would like to see the same shot without gloves.

I like this shot too! The shadows are perfect and I wouldn't touch them; however, I'd like to see this shot with regular black boxing gloves as the stark white of the "Everlast" logo grabs my eye first and distracts from the subject.
Great shot though.
What's in the bag:
Classic, not plastic - Mamiya RB67, Nikon F100, Nikon N80 ... yes, all film!

Thanks LB. He is a famous boxer and it was not my place to suggest him taking the gloves off or changing his gear, so I went with what he wore. It was the look he gave me that captivated me most.

Been spending a lot of time on here!
I vote for the first shot. The NR shot looks too much like a "Glamor Shots" kind of shot.
Also, I'd spray the guy down with Pam to make it look more like he was in the middle of a workout. It's a trick bodybuilders use to give the appearance of being more cut by creating more contrast.

Not knowing the particulars associated with the session I thought that maybe you had some control over it; no biggie though I do agree that the look is a good one.
Aside from spaying down with PAM what about maybe just misting him with a touch of water (from like a spay bottle) and giving that "glistening" quality to the skin ... Again, it's a great shot, just suggesting variations ...

I like this shot, too, but it's not the white Everlast that is throwing me, it's the glare off the gloves. The highlights on the skin are nice and subtle, but the bright relective glare just catches the eyes too much... otherwise, I love it.
