I totally agree and have highlighted the points I most agree with.
If you are so concerned about TPF's younger users then restrict them from the NSFW section by birth date. If they care to go through the trouble of making another account with an "older" birth date simply to view the NSFW section then they're probably smart enough to find the websites that offer full length pornographic videos for free the same way I do.
No thirteen year old is going to look for a photo forum to find artistic pictures to masturbate too.
I learn more from the NSFW section about lighting/angles/DOF than any other section here because it is one of the most difficult things to photograph. I have been practicing for MONTHS and I am still not ready to post my practice shots because I have not been able to apply what I have learned yet. I hate that I am never going to have an opportunity to post my work there now.

The truth is, we don't know why the ban was initiated - unless the admin drop in here and tell us why, all we can do is guess.
That, in itself, is pretty ****ed up to me, the fact that we don't even know why the decision was made...

And they won't ... they'll just put these bans in place and go about their merry way ... There aren't many "admins" on any of the forums that I post to (whether it be on photography or not) that are active "posters" ... they just drop in and do what they want (which is fine, because the own the place) but never give the users any insight as to why they come to the decisions that they do ...
and, yeah, if you want to, you could say I am calling them out here ...

Keeper of the Padlocks
Site Moderator
Easy there LBPhotog - effective admin/moderation often involves that the site runners take a step back from the community (esp with very large forum memberships) so as to remain as impartial as possible. However taking a step back does not mean the same thing as what is occuring here.
Let us at least give the admin a chance to say their side in this in responce to the memberships reaction to their choice. Though one could (and I do) say that such should have occured before this stage was reached.

Oh, I agree - I doubt that we will be given an explanation...
Hell, the owners of this forum aren't even photographers, why should we expect them to give a **** about the art?

Actually, Overread, I am an admin on another site, though not as large as this one and I am as active as possible with my community. I have promoted members to MODS who I trust with my forum when I am not around.
I feel that I can still stay impartial and still have a great community ... Honestly, if they really wanted a chance to tell us why they came to that decision they would have done so in their first post ...

The community left here a while back. You are a commodity now.

Amen...
P.S.
I think Overread would make a great moderator. A handful of others on this forum need a promotion as well.

OH MY GOD!! I FOUND NUDITY ON THIS SITE ... I'M OFFENDED ... HERE LET ME SHOW YOU ...
Might want to check the rest of your smilies for offensive ideas too ... I'm not too sure I like this one either
Overread WOULD make a great mod ... he has a very calming demeanor and never seems to take sides ... very Switzerland of him ...

Ridiculous, there was some great artistic shots and discussions, yes a few stupid/offending to some threads, but I cant count how many stupid/ offending threads I have seen in the newb section, and those people are still on this board posting.
Can anyone recommend a good photo forum?

Says everything.
I have to agree with this 100%. I hadn't seen any nude postings here that were in poor taste. And most of the conversations they generated were relevant and informative about lighting techniques and posing techniques that could help someone one with a larger variety of art forms than just nudes. This was a horrible decision, one that makes me feel less inclined to interact with this forum. Not necessarily because I am a fan of nudes, but because, as Sooner stated, "Admin has made it clear that it is more important to coddle a few kids . . . than support its adult membership."

No longer a newbie, moving up!
I will speculate why they pulled the section. I suspect one of two things is happening. They are either trying to sell the site, or some pissed off parent is threating the site, because there child was caught checking out the NSFW section. I think it is ashame that it got pulled down. There was some brillant work in that section.

I know a photography site that allows this kind of work. I won't mentioned it here but anyone interested can send me a PM.
