No Nude / NSFW Photos allowed
We have decided to shut down the Nude section here. As you know it was only created very recently and was done as a sort of experiment. However, I think it sent the wrong message about the intentions of our site here.
There is a rule, please do not post nude pictures in this section (or any section on the site) and no NSFW photos are allowed.
Thanks for your patience and understanding.

I agree, I never saw anything that wasn't done very tastfully and artistically...

While I agree that there are some classy photos in there, I agree more with getting rid of that section. I never thought that was the best idea anyway. There have been multiple kids all the way down to 13 that have been members on here and it's just not appropriate for them to view (regardless of the artform) not to mention it is easy to be ...... taken off course I suppose....easy to manipulate what is art and what is just bad taste.

Good point... I hadn't thought about the younger members of the site.

hmmmmm...
i think its a real shame. there were some great images in there, and as someone who aspires to shoot artistic nudes/implied/boudoir it was a nice place to find inspiration and whatnot.
as far as the younger members having access...im on the fence (not that it matters of course). part of me thinks that it's a responsible move by tpf...while the other part of me takes the european route, and thinks that the human body is not shameful and should not be hidden to protect our younger generations. any 13yo with basic internet knowledge can google 'boobs' and get umpteen zillion images.
i dont think the NSFW posts were poisoning kids.
overall i disagree with the action taken, but it is what it is and those who are in charge seem to have spoken.

Funny that this came up today and my 13yr old and I were actually looking at some of the pics last night. While I can appreciate the forum admins decision and might see how some were subjective in taste/art form I'm sad to see it gone. Some of the work was very beautiful. Just my 2cp.

This forum def brings the lolz

This is very sad... I see shades of the FCC here. They probably got a few complaints, representing 0.00002% of the membership, and decided to pull the plug.
I remember while living in Europe, nudity was on prime-time TV for pete's sake.... You people need to get over yourselves.
Where ever you go, there you are.

Wow.
I believe I will recuse myself from The Photo Forum. I have worked on nothing but nudes over the last six months, and had very good discussions here, none of them juvenile or inappropriate.
I am saddened, I am mad, and I feel completely ignored and made irrelevant. This is completely counter-intuitive to a community. At least some discussion would have been nice, or a "heads up" to those of us doing serious nude work. After several thousand posts to be simply treated without any respect is disappointing.
I will be back occasionally (old surfing habits die hard after all these years) and I am almost finished with my new website, to which I will invite people here upon completion. But I think the time has come, it has certainly been made clear that those of us who contribute steadily are only community members at the will of a group whom I don't even know.
Shutting down the Nude section is a poor decision. It was probably the forum with the most respectful and useful discourse. If the level of exchange would have been this respectful and thoughtful in the other galleries or the main forums this site would be an even better place.

I have to say this comes as rather a surprise to me - if anything the Nudes discussions were some of the more respectfull and informative we have here. I certainly don't recall seeing many complaints of nude or NSFW shots on the site nor any long arguments or debates - infact the section was generally well recieved.
I could see scaling back and going back to having NSFW in regular posts and no dedicated nude section- but to remove nudes altogether just sounds a little odd without any buildup from the members (at least openly in the forum)

I don't care one way or another, but to remove it because of kids is silly and naive.
As mentioned before, a 13 year old can probably out-search the majority of the older members. If they were going to search for nudity I promise it would not be here.
I thought what I saw in that section was respectful and artistic.........not porn.

No longer a newbie, moving up!
Ultimately, the decision rests with the owners of the site, but for those of us living in the World where we acknowledge that people have bodies made of flesh underneath their clothing, this is a sad day.
I, too, thought many of the photos were in wonderful taste and I fully support any attempt to embrace the human body, whatever its shape.
For those of you who focused on this style, I do hope you continue to post and discuss, I have learned much about lighting from the work you have shared.

I think the reason for getting rid of this is the typical North American viewpoint that is ridiculous as well. The fact that there are younger members on her should be of no consequence. The internet is filled with pornography and artistic nude photos are doing nothing in the form of harm for anyone. If it is truly concern for youth that prompted the owners and admins to remove this section, then there should also be a rule that disallows any photos of violence or firearms. The human body is probably the most natural thing that people see anymore. Moderation is fine, but banning nude photographs goes against everything that photographers (in general) believe in when it comes to freedoms in art expression.

This is your forum ekool (and associates), but this decision is not cool. Some really nice work and discussion was starting to populate the sub-forum. Although the ocassional juvi comment was seen, by and large the general "feel" I garnered was one of respect for the photographer, the model and the image. Hindsight is 20/20. I guess none of the decision makers have ever type in youporn.com. Oh yeah..... I'm 18!!! pffffft
