    Wedding Shots for C&C Please

    Hello!!

Here are some shots from a wedding I did this weekend, and C&C greatly appreciated as I'm always looking to improve.
    Thank you...

I tend to like the composition in these, and in most cases the lighting as well. I don't care for the contrast in most of them though. In all but #3 there's no detail in the blacks, and in several the highlights are blown too.

#4 I really like the subject placement and the lighting, but there's so much detail outside the subjects that my eye wants to wander. I'm not drawn in.

Why must you make the ugly watermark so prominent? Come on now.

#1: I'm guessing that's the bride's father? I dislike the tight crop, it feels very congested and claustrophobic. I also would've waited for the guy behind the father to walk away or something..it's a bit distracting. Maybe close him out, this would create at least a little blank space for breathing room.

#2: I actually like this one, it's a warm moment and very genuine, the fat guy ruins it for me though. But that just may be me being overpicky. But giving the groom a conjoined twin at the head really bugs me but I think the tonalities are okay in this one. There's blacks, whites, and greys, which is nice to see, but maybe dodge the walls behind them if you can, because bumping up the contrast might create unwanted highlights/shadows. But overall, I like this one best.

#3: There are some distractions in this photo which take away from it. After covering the first arc on top of the bridge or whatever, it looks much better without the light (white rectangle thing) and the 2 squares (sorry for my lack of vocab). Maybe you could try cloning them out and see what you think. Her dress is blown as well.

#4: Interesting location, maybe a little too interesting. It really takes away from the focus point which should be the couple. I think a crop would come in a handy here, also you lost detail in her dress, it's just a blown out white.

#5: I'd say just crop out the left and far right edges so it begins with the white immediately. It's either you finish it or you don't include it. I'd say do away with them.

Very nice overall. Distractions include the somewhat unavoidable (heads), and the completely avoidable (humongous signature / watermark).

Overall quite nice. I agree the blacks are pretty blocked up, and some of the highlights are blown. I really don't care for the first one, it would be much better as a landscape orientation, although the dad's expression is nice.

Number 3 is my favorite of these. It was well composed and lit.

I like #4 the best. I agree with cropping it some, but it is an awesome site.

Well aside from that awful watermark you mean?

You really need to watch your hotspots and distracting elements. There are several of areas that are pure 255 white.

Also, you could have better timing and placement of yourself. The guy behind the FOB and then the groomsmen in the altar shot.

    Overall, nice set.

Thank you for all your comments.
As I'm sure you are all aware the watermark is to try to miminmise people printing directly from copies put on facebook. They have machines in ASDA where people can print directly from the crappy compressed images uploaded to facebook.

There was no space in #1, to the left of where FOB is stood is a door, to the right of the bride is another door, with people in the hallway (houses are much smaller in the UK so space is limited. I thought about removing the Uncle from the background, but quite liked him looking on.... I shall remove him.

#2, again the space was very limited, you can see behind the best man, there is only about 3 metres space before the wall, and then there is an immediate recess which takes the total width to about 4 metres, I had nowhere to move to for different angles unless I moved the vicar out of the way (I didn't think they'd like that much)

Thanks for your comments on cropping, I'll get those bits cropped out.

As requested, here are a few of the colour versions....
