I spend too much of my life on TPF!
Help/Feed back on my website. Appreciate it.
UmmonShadow.com
I have been reworking little bits on my site to make it easier to browse and just look better.
So the main work is going into the gallery section.
Ignore all galleries apart from the rural gallery as that is the only one that I have changed thus far until I have feedback.
So what do you think of it's current layout.
I'm going to put the Panos into a seperate gallery eventually.
Click on an image.... is it wrong that you have to push "back" to get back to the gallery?
Is it a problem to have to scroll down the little box to see the full view on portrait shots? I was thinking about making them all smaller to fit inside that box, but see point below and above.
Should I make the images open in new windows?
What are your thoughts on improving this function.
As far as I'm aware it all works perfectly fine on Firefox and IE.
Thanks guys and look forward to hearing your feedback
Matt

No longer a newbie, moving up!
The front page doesn't seem to flow very well, it just looks like there is a header, then there is an image, then there is the footer text, I would try to create a more integrated layout.
The gallery, in my opinion, is very awkward to use, I wouldn't use any kind of frame for the images, just load a new page with the images from that category, and provide a link back so users don't have to click their back button. Then from the gallery link to another new page for the single image, with another back button to the gallery.
You have some nice photos though and your website is looking like a good start

Love your work Matthew, whenever I see something like this, it reminds me I should be trying a lot harder!

Thanks for the advice
I'll have to try that out.
I was thinking about doing something like that, but then decided to keep it all within my site.
But from all the feedback I have recieved, majority have said it is awkward to navigate the galleries.
So a new page for each gallery and images to open in a new window.
It's funny because that's how it originally was when I first made it
And Renair...
Thanks very much
I appreciate such kind alot.

For those who have viewed my website.
I have reworked the galleries and I think it makes navigating much easier.
Only thing that I'd change (but i don't know whow) is for the page to fit each gallery rather than staying to fit the first one that loads.
I used a javascript for autosizing to the iFRame contents, but it doesn't seem to change within the gallery iFrame for some reason.
So if any of you know how i could change this, it would be appreciated
I can send the code I use now if you know what to look for.

i was just going to comment on the iframe issue; they don't load. feel free to send the code to me and i'll have a look at it. 90% of the sites that i've built are iframe driven.
i think about harmony with you as worlds that we don't want to understand collapse around us. -me
