April Photo Challenge - "Bat & Ball"

Hi everyone,

Thanks to those who took part in the March challenge, let's see how the vote goes this time.

The Photo Challenge this month is on the theme "Bat & Ball"

For all those who wish to participate in this challenge please take a moment to read through the following:

- The deadline for submissions is 30 April 2009
- The image can be no larger then 150KB*
- Include your forum username when submitting
- The attached photo must be in the form of a .jpg
- Please keep your photo anonymous (no distinguishing watermarks, and no photos that have been posted previously on the forum)
- Submit no more than one photo
- If you wish you may include a title when submitting your photo (please ensure that the attached photo is renamed as the chosen title)
- The form must also be included when submitting the photo
- The forum Admins and Moderators reserve the right to exclude or remove any photo solely at their discretion
- The forum Admins and Moderators reserve the right to decide the winner of the photo challenge
- All submitted photos will be posted in a new thread within the first week of the following month

All photos must include the form when submitted. Just copy and paste it into your email. This will ensure that no mistakes are made when photos are submitted and therefore, hopefully, no photos are excluded. If the form is not included in the submission email the photo will not be included in the challenge gallery and voting process.

*150KB will be taken as the “size on disk” and not the actual file size. Also some email programs consider 1KB=1000Bytes as oppposed to 1KB=1024Bytes. When these programs calculate attachment size they will often read larger then they actually are. To be safe we recommend a target size of about 140KB so that once sent it does not go over 150KB.

funny that this is the topic of the month, all I've been taking pictures of lately is baseball. They are for a minor league baseball magazine though so I can't post them here.

I'd be lying if I didn't say I was concerned about the very low number of entries that have appeared so far for this month's comp. There are still a few days left, so get those cameras out and get shooting. And remember, "Bat & Ball" can be interpreted in many ways beyond the mound and diamond....

i think my submission defines thinking beyond the diamond and mound. lol.

As I've been asked the question on the PM, I think you have to interpret both 'bat and 'ball' fairly liberally to be honest. You could go with golf, table tennis, lacrosse, badminton, tennis, one of those things with a ball tied to a post that kids knock around in a garden - anything really that relies on hitting something with a shaped stick.

Just as soon as I get round to it - there is more than meets the eye involved in this. Hopefully you'll see very shortly why this isn't currently at the top of the priority list.

Sorry about this folks, we seem to have a serious problem with the Gallery at the moment and we don't have a ready solution. As soon as things get fixed, I'll get the image loaded up, but I can't give you a forecast at the moment.

Just a suggestion as i understand sometimes computer software (Especially forums with all their codes)go haywire...but what if you just post all the pictures in a new thread with a poll? Each picture can have a title "picture 1", "picture2" and so on, and the poll options would reflect these photo titles?

Just a suggestion, as other forums do their "X of the month" in this way too.
