Minolta Albinar 2X Teleconverter For X-700 X-370 XD-11
A friend has offered to sell me a 2X Teleconverter for my Minolta XD11. Can anyone tell me about this accessorie and how I an get good use from it if I purchase this?

The Albinar brand was a bargin brand that sold for low prices. The quality of this extender is probably marginal at best. These were 2 or 3 element extenders and their performance was no where near that of the more modern extenders with six or more elements.
It might do an adequate job of doubling the focal length of a 100-200mm prime lens, but would likely not produce decent results with any of the zooms of the day. There is also a 2 stop light loss with 2x extenders. Even a relatively fast 135mm f/2.8 becomes a 270mm f/5.6 when paired with a 2x extender and you would probably need to stop down to f/11-16 to get halfway decent images.
