Which head for wildlife landscape pics?
Just wondering what people use, and their experiences with either pan and tilt/ball etc?
Hopefully you guys can help me make up my mind, i'm stearing towards a ball head right now, do i really need a pan and tilt?
Info info would be great, Thanks in advance!
Cheers,
F

No longer a newbie, moving up!
I have used many 'less expensive' pan n tilts, but now with a good manfrotto tripod I use a ballhead exclusively, 488RC2.
Panning is separate control and works smoothly, with degrees marked on a collar for those detailed shots where accuracy necessary; tilt with ball a little tight so it is a gentle smooth movement.
Flowers, landscape, building construction photos...
Have not once wished for anything else, or for features the 488 didn't have.
I keep the quick release plate on the camera, about 1/3 of my shooting is on tripod
Distinctly satisfied with the 488 ballhead.

I would agree. I have a Gitzo1377M ballhead which I got on e-bay which does it great for me.
