    Canon Rebel XS lens questions!

So I just bought a Canon Rebel XS with 18-55 IS lens, and I am thinking of buying a zoom lense.

So, I was looking, and I saw there two options:

Dell : Tamron USA, Inc. A017 70-300 mm F/4.0-5.6 Macro Zoom Lens for Canon Digital SLR Cameras : Digital Cameras & Digital Camcorders : Home & Home Office
Dell : Canon EF 75-300mm f/4-5.6 III : Digital Cameras & Digital Camcorders : Home & Home Office

And I was wondering which was the better option. Is there really a difference between the two lenses?

    Thanks, Jordan

Here is another good review site.

I've never used the Tamron, but I have that Canon 75-300. It's not a great lens, but it's not horrible either. For the price, I don't think you'll find anything better.

The next step up from that will be in the $500-600 range (and the next step up from that is in the $1000-2000 range).

For under $500 it's pretty much your only option (for that focal range), unless you go third party (which I know nothing about).

Personally, I would go with the Canon one. But that's just because I have an unfounded distrust of third party glass.
