    Sized down proofs

So the auto flash album maker on adobe bridge sized down my pictures to:

683-1024 pixels with 96 horizontal and vertical dpi. If I give this file to client as proofs, how big can they print it until you can tell the pixelation?

    Thanks!

At 300 ppi (standard resolution considered 'photo quality'), they could make a 2.27" x 3.4" picture. A 4x6 would probably look pretty good too. Bigger than that and it would probably start to look like crap.

...But. People have been known to make crappy prints anyway and hang them on their walls...

BTW - the dpi (that's just for printing) or ppi doesn't matter at all.

Figure out what they're going to be printed at, and divide the image dimensions (in pixels) by that. That will give you the dimension in inches (or whatever unit the print resolution is measured in).
